New report: The financial sector on the road to global climate targets

How can we measure the climate trajectory of the financial sector as a whole?

While numerous methodologies exist for assessing the alignment of an institution or portfolio taken in isolation, a consolidated vision on the scale of the sector has yet to be built.

This new report, co-authored by Climate Arc, the PARC Foundation of the Institut Louis Bachelier and ADEME, offers an initial structuring of methodological options for assessing the collective alignment of a group of financial players with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. It builds on previous work published in The Alignment Cookbook 2, while emphasizing the specificities of an aggregated assessment and the challenges it poses.

By shedding light on the issues linked to the coherence, transparency and readability of these approaches, this report serves as a reminder of the essential role played by the financial sector in the fight against climate change.
